Their is a simple form to fill when applying for OCI in Lieu of PIO. Applicants should not worry about providing extensive proof of their Indian origin as they already hold PIO cards. OCI-Registration (In Lieu of PIO-Card) is an on-line process. OCI Applicants who are having valid PIO-cards can apply by: Visit https://passport.gov.in/oci/ Select ‘CLICK HERE TO PROCEED’ button to go to the menu page and then Select ‘OCI Registration (in Lieu of Valid PIO-Card) to go to the appropriate Form and follow the instructions to fill and submit the Form and required documents. Kindly note the deadline for converting PIO to OCI for free is up to June 30, 2017. This date may or may not be extended by the Government of India. Take advantage of the Governments offer and apply as soon as possible.
